This month Carolyn Polk brings a mélange of artwork to Studio Brick. Brand new pieces are mixed alongside some of her classic work. Acrylics, encaustics, t-shirts, and prints will all be featured. Color is the theme throughout her artwork and brings it all together. Carolyn is intrigued both by its influences, and by the manipulation of its interrelationships.

Note that the main building entrance will be closed during these openings, so you will need to enter via the stairway about 20 feet north of the main entrance, next to the bookstore. Look for the "Studio Brick" sandwich board outside!
Two women, two cameras, and two very passionate souls are offering the public a chance to view the word through their lens, their eyes, and their hearts The love of life and all it has to offer is the inspiration for this show, which may sound vague to some, but it gives the artists a chance to show a variety of work, angles, and subjects all in the celebration of life. We invite you to stop by, take a seat, and enjoy the view...

This is a mini-retrospective of work shot by Thomas Park in Japan or inspired by traditional Asian arts over the course of this decade.
From the artist: "Many of the images represent a return to my background in black and white printmaking and street photography - shot hand-held with available light on antique medium-format film cameras. I found that this approach, in addition to being pratical, suited the subject matter. Fleeting glimpses of strangers captured from the point of view of the anonymous observer, surreptitious views detached and yet also wholly interested."

Skin Deep is a photographic exploration of the age old question of Beauty. What makes someone beautiful? Nati Amos is the main subject of this study, a nationally known spoken word artist and truly unique individual. Less than three decades old she has survived nearly 30 different surgeries that have left her scarred, but certainly not a victim. True beauty does not always come in conventional forms and Nati shows us this with beauty and grace. She embodies sexiness and confidence and shows us that true beauty comes from within and is hardly skin deep.
